Gohar played an active role in the textile industry, especially through his long-term association with the All Pakistan Textile Mills Association (APTMA). In 2003, he brought major change to the organization’s leadership and later served as APTMA’s Punjab Chairman and national Chairman. Even after his official term ended, he remained a powerful voice in the industry as Patron-in-Chief till 2023.
In 2004, he started Lake City, one of Lahore’s biggest real estate projects, spread over 2,000 acres. Though the project faced some financial setbacks in its early years, it still stands as a major development in Pakistan’s real estate sector.
Apart from business, Gohar has served on the boards of several respected institutions including National Textile University, King Edward Medical University, and Government College University, Lahore.
In 2023, he stepped into public service as the Caretaker Federal Minister for Commerce, Industry, and Production—and later took on the role of Interior Minister as well.
He was awarded the Sitara-e-Imtiaz in 2011 for his services to Pakistan’s industry and also holds an honorary doctorate in management from Punjab University.
Known for his strong network, leadership skills, and public image, Gohar Ejaz continues to make a mark in business, policy, and philanthropy.
