Business Journey:
Mian Latif was born in 1952 in Toba Tek Singh into an Arain family. His father, Haji Muhammad Saleem, was a cotton industrialist, which influenced his early interest in business. After moving to Faisalabad for studies, he graduated in 1974 and started a small textile processing unit. Over time, this grew into Chenab Group, a major player in the textile sector.
In 1997, he introduced ChenOne, a retail chain that became one of the first Pakistani brands to focus on high-end home and fashion products.
Personal Life:
Mian Latif’s younger brother, Chaudhry Muhammad Ashfaq, served as a Member of the National Assembly (MNA) and as District Nazim of Toba Tek Singh. His son, Miantenure Farhan Latif, was the youngest MNA during PML-Q’s (2002-2008).
Awards & Recognition:
For his contributions to Pakistan’s textile industry, President Pervez Musharraf awarded him the Tamgha-e-Imtiaz (Medal of Excellence) on 23 March 2004.
