With a strong academic foundation, Miftah holds a Ph.D. in Public Finance and Political Economy from the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania. His early career included a tenure at the International Monetary Fund in Washington, D.C., and later, he contributed to his family business, Ismail Industries Limited, a leading confectionery and snack food manufacturer in Pakistan.
Miftah has held significant roles, such as chairman of the Pakistan Board of Investment and director positions at Pakistan International Airlines and Sui Southern Gas Company. His expertise has attracted investments in key sectors, including the automobile industry. Beyond public service, Miftah has contributed to education as an adjunct faculty member at the Institute of Business Administration and served as chairman of the Karachi American School board.
