Zafar Masud is a prominent Pakistani banker with over 25 years of experience in domestic and international banking. He has worked with leading institutions such as American Express Bank, Citibank, Dubai Islamic Bank, and Barclays, holding key leadership positions.
Currently serving as the Chief Executive Officer of the Bank of Punjab since April 2020, Zafar has been instrumental in driving the bank’s growth and innovation. He was also elected as the Chairman of the Pakistan Banks Association in March 2024, showcasing his influence in the country’s financial sector.
Zafar has made significant contributions to banking, including establishing Dubai Islamic Bank’s corporate banking division in Pakistan and leading the Southern Africa division of Barclays. He also founded Burj Capital, an investment bank, which he successfully exited in 2015.
In addition to his banking career, Zafar is known for his resilience. He is one of two survivors of the PIA Flight 8303 crash in May 2020, demonstrating incredible determination by continuing his role as CEO after recovering from the accident.
