Career Journey:
After graduating in 1987, Shoaib joined Carrier Telephone Industries (CTI) Islamabad, a joint venture of PTCL and Siemens Germany. Over nearly a decade, he worked on multiple telecom projects, advancing from a team member to a project leader. His work included designing relay repeaters, digital PABX systems, wireless adapters, and switch-mode power supplies.
In the late 1990s, Shoaib became a founding member and Director Technical at WorldCall, where he led the network design and implementation of the ‘Hello’ service. As Group Director Technical, he played a vital role in launching Pakistan’s first Hybrid Fibre Coaxial (HFC) network for Cable TV and Internet Over Cable (IOC), first in Lahore and later in Karachi.
When Pakistan deregulated its telecom sector in 2003, Shoaib worked closely with the Ministry of IT & Telecom, PTA, and PTCL to shape policies and secure LDI, LL, and WLL licenses for WorldCall. He managed the technical, regulatory, and inter-operator aspects of these projects, contributing to the company’s rapid growth.
In 2007, he left WorldCall to establish Technology At Work (Pvt) Limited (T@W) as CEO and founding director, providing consultancy and project management services in the ICT sector.
