Baron Choudrey joined Bestway Group in 1984 and has been instrumental in its transformation into a multinational conglomerate. As Chief Executive, he led strategic acquisitions, including Bashin Cash & Carry, Crown Crest Limited, and Link Cash & Carry. He also spearheaded the diversification of the business into cement manufacturing and financial services, including the acquisition of United Bank Limited (UBL) and the Co-op Pharmacy, now known as Well Pharmacy.
His leadership earned him the prestigious Grocer Cup in 2015 and a CBE in 2016 for his contributions to the wholesale industry and charity. In 2018, he was awarded Pakistan’s Sitara-i-Imtiaz for his philanthropic efforts. He was elevated to the House of Lords in 2019, becoming Baron Choudrey of Hampstead.
